Today Lustrosa means much more than sequins. Glitter, glass beads for prints on textiles, 3D- sequin accessories, appliqué and manual printing on textiles and leather, and trimmings made with special yams: these are but a few catalogue items.
The 3-D sequins (the result of careful research) are used to create accessories such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and bag and footwear appliqué pieces - which means embracing sectors very different from the traditional Lustrosa ones. Interaction: this is Lustrosa' key word.
The company's prime product - patterned yarns - is also a fruit of this new project. In fact, an extremely broad product selection has been developed, with customer involvement, in order to create a very unusual range highlighting all the experience and versatility accrued in thirty years in business.
These yearns are used in the knitwear field and may be worked not only with knitting needles but also on 3- or 5- gauge industrial machines and even on 12- gauge ones (with certain minor changes). In addition, they are also widely used in the weaving, embroidery and quilting fields as well as in all the sectors where fashions demand constant change and endless new ideas. Lustrosa also 'plays' with sequins, altering the distance between them, in order to achieve entirely different effects on finished garments. This technique makes it possible to create unique items that, despite being machine-made, reveal a convincing hand-made effect.
Two distinct results are thus achieved: the cost of producing hand embroidery in Italy is reduced, making the process competitive on an increasingly global market demanding first-rate products at limited prices; unusual and entirely unique products that were only possible in the past if hand-made may now be manufactured. |
